In order to develop your Personal Brand effectively, you need to be very aware of the perceptions that others have of you. In addition, you need to spend time managing perceptions in order to maximise the impact from your personal brand.

The group of people who have perceptions of you is wide-ranging of course – colleagues, potential employers, your target market, clients, etc. The fact is, you just never know who might notice you, be talking about you and want to recommend you.

Where are the gaps in how you see yourself and how others view you? How do you make sure that the messages are positive, congruent and consistent?

You will need to have completed your Personal Brand Profile and gained the feedback set as an exercise in the last session before you can complete this one. So please make sure you do your ‘homework’ to ensure you get the most from the course.

Take a look at today’s video below and we reveal all…

Being visible and having the phone ring with opportunities doesn’t happen by accident. It happens to people for a reason and that reason is normally because they are well connected… they have a strong network of people around them who they interact with on a regular basis. Most importantly they actively spend time giving to that network.

We all need to be more visible – especially in competitive times. However because time is so precious, we need to network in a strategic rather than an ad-hoc way, dovetailed with a clear focus on our goals.

In this session, we build on the goals you’ve already prepared in an earlier part of the course and I’ll share some ideas on how you can make more effective use of your time spent networking.

So you’ve made it to the last day… we hope you’ve enjoyed the last month and are already putting some of the techniques we’ve shown you into practice.

For our last session, we are going to look at how Personal Brands and Corporate Brands collide…

We set corporate values and then expect all managers and staff to engage with the values and project them. In reality this doesn’t happen because they are just a set of words and not necessarily reflective of personal values.

Our Walking TALL methodology enables you as an individual to temporarily come out of the corporate space and then evaluate, clarify and develop your own authentic brand and set of values and then to effectively reinforce and underpin the corporate values in your own individual way.

This engagement with the values is key to your career success and of course to the overall success of an organisation. Enjoy the last day and don’t forget to leave a comment below.

Welcome to The 8.45 Club.
You have just been reading part of a lesson from Walking TALL - one of our video-based ecourses.
To see the video which has just been introduced above and the other 11 lessons in the course, please register for a free trial here.

Without clearly articulated goals and actions you are unlikely to achieve results. Results in the context of this course are hitting the Personal Brand objectives you set yourself at the beginning of this course.

In this penultimate session in the programme, I will make sure you have the necessary structure to enable you to meet your objectives for building your Personal Brand and for setting on-going goals in your life and career. There’s a really simple technique I will show you which means you’ll never break another New Year’s Resolution ever again – and it’s all to do with using the right words.

I will be challenging you in this session to test out just how consistent your brand is in all forms of communication.

We use a number of celebrity case studies to illustrate the point, plus I am able to reveal what Richard Branson said to me when I interviewed him about his hugely successful personal brand and his ‘ahem‘ choice of wardrobe…

It’s no good developing your personal brand and then not building exposure and being seen.

Visibility is more important than ever (especially with the economic climate as it currently is) in getting ahead in business and making the most of our careers. To ensure we make the most of this important element, we need to build a clear visibility plan.

In this session we’ll be looking at defining your target market and building that visibility plan for you to execute over the coming weeks and months, and indeed on-going.

Without a plan you’ll be leaving your visibility to chance and that just won’t be good enough to build your profile effectively.
